Our Fine Quality Materials
STERLING SILVER
Sterling silver is an alloy of 92.5% silver and 7.5% copper. It can be antiqued or given a high polish. We use both antiqued and polished beads. Sterling Silver tarnishes from the interaction of silver and sulfides in the air. This is a natural process. Sterling silver will polish up by rubbing or buffing it with a soft sterling silver polishing cloth. Do NOT use a Sterling Dip to clean your Sivani Designs jewelry.
LEATHER
Sivani Designs leather accessories are made using genuine leather. I use only genuine leather, dyed with only certified lead free dyes. I guarantee my leather for life. If you want your leather jewelry to last a long, long time, you have to keep it away from water because unless treated naturally leather is not water resistant.
If you choose not to use a leather protectant, exposure to water may reduce the lifespan of a leather jewelry piece, so we recommend that you remove it before showering, swimming, washing dishes and other similar activities.
All leather used on Sivani's bags, wallets, toiletry bags, and cased is treated with oils and waxes to withstand the exposure to the rugged outdoors.
We highly recommend - Obenauf's leather care products. Obenauf's products are natural protectants for leather and contain no harmful chemicals that can damage your leather. Natural oils are suspended in a Beeswax/Propolis formula. In the leather, these oils gradually seep out of the Beeswax/Propolis as a time release lubrication that restores fibers. If exposed to heat or constant flexing, the oils are released faster; so instead of getting parched, your leather gets oiled when and where it needs it most.
In addition to this remarkable "suspension release" quality, propolis also provides a durable barrier against chemicals and resists bacteria, mold, and mildew. Propolis is an anti-bacterial resin collected by honeybees to waterproof and disinfect their hives. This amazing, all natural substance repels water better and longer than regular water repellants. It even reinforces the surface of your leather against scuffing while still allowing the leather to breathe.
RUBBER CORD
Some of the Sivani Designs men's jewelry can be made with rubber cord instead of the genuine leather. Rubber cord is a great choice if you are planning to wear your Sivani Designs bracelet or necklace at all times. Rubber cord is water resistant and therefore can withstand prolonged exposure to water. It is also far more resistant to regular exposure to chemicals, cosmetics, and perspiration.
ROPE CORD
Some of the Sivani Designs bracelets are made with rope cord and genuine leather. The particular braid that I use is carefully constructed with a high tenacity polyester parallel core with a Diamond Braid polyester cover. Core and cover balance insures a strength and low stretch.
BEADING WIRE
Some of our designs require the use of beading wire. We use the strongest beading wire possible for each specific jewelry item. All bracelets and necklaces are made with 49 strands of steel coated in Nylon.
GEMSTONES
All our Gemstones are natural semi-precious stones.
WAXED COTTON CANVAS
Waxed cotton canvas is a durable, natural, time tested, and water-repellent fabric. I use it for the toiletry bags and source mine from an American family-owned company who has used the same process for over 170 years. As the fabric ages, it develops a well-worn and comfortable patina, unique for every bag. The waxed finish is environmentally friendly, food and pharmaceutical graded, completely non-hazardous. As the fabric ages, it develops a well-worn and comfortable patina.
